Strait jacket inspired outerwear created with 100% up-cycled denim. For this piece I aimed to project the universal feeling of confinement present in today’s society (especially during months of quarantine) onto that of a jacket. The traditional strait jacket explores concepts of escapology and the breaking away from imposed restraints. To present this restraint, the jacket can be worn loose and liberally, as well as artistically crossed through the pockets so as to represent this aforementioned entrapment. The unisex adaptation of this jacket also serves to exemplify the universal aspect of it all. 2020
