Zoe Goldemberg
Final work for first semester Design Studio at RISD.
How can I graph organic shapes geometrically? What are the graphical rules of an amorphous object? What would this object look like if it were rotated in space?
Using digital modeling to create geometric translations of simple lines and cubes, animating these mutations, and wondering how my resulting forms would look like in relation to a coordinate plane. Where do the asymptotes lie? An application of this mode of thought (in coherence with my WC obsession) is to think of tracking a soccer players calculated motions across the field and how the resulting map would be completely abstract and organic. I created a soccer player formation with 11 renders (1st slide) and created AI generated variations of each image to be reflected/inverted as the 11 on the opposing “team”(2nd slide). There is so much thought that was provoked from this process and brought to mind David Pye’s philosophies of what is workmanship of risk and what is workmanship of certainty, especially as AI becomes increasingly more accessible and awe-inspiring.
Modeled on Autodesk MAYA, rendered on Keyshot.
