Amazing experience I had during these intensive 3 days in New York. An evening of fun with a DJ, refreshments, and interactive making stations presented by creative arts organizations in NYC at the maker Prom, an unforgettable Award ceremony at the prestigious Carnegie Hall receiving the awards. And to conclude, my work was showcased at Parsons University, one of my future choices for College...it was incredible, to say the least! I had an amazing time and made memories that will last forever! 2017 Scholastic Art Awards and Exhibition

I participated at the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, where kids from 7th to 12th Grade could present their work in one or more of the 21 categories that the contest has. The two main topics consist of art and writing. I participated in the Fashion category of 'Art" where i entered a 3-D printed shoe that I designed. The photos below are from the ceremony for all of the people that recieved a gold key, silver key, or honorable mention in the scholastics competition for the miami-dade county. I recieved a gold key in the fashion category. I received the award at the Rubell Family Collection Museum in Wynwood, Miami, Florida. I had the honor to received the prize from Miami Dade County School Superintendent Alberto Carvalho, along with the Rubell Family. On march 14 i found out that I had won multiple NATIONAL awards in the Scholastics arts and writing competition! I was immediately filled with joy. Out of 300,000 entries to the competition, i recieved a gold medal in the fashion category and a best-in-grade award for 7th grade. As a result, I will soon be embarking on my trip to New York City where I will recieve my awards in the prestigious Carnegie Hall on June 8. Stay tuned for more information and photos on that!

Invitation to RCN, a mayor TV channel in Colombia, Bogota. I was thrilled to be part of a Number 1 TV show called "Grandes Chicos". I was interviewed by Andres Lopez, the program host. After there was a fashion show showcasing my collection. Thank you to Expofashionkids for modeled my designs. And to all the TV production for inviting me and for such a wonderful experience. ArchiFashion was incredible! I presented an outfit inspired in the work of a very  well known architect named Rem Koolhaas. It was exhibit at Fer Sucre Pop Art Gallery during Art Basel 2015. Angie, again, what a great job by Designlab Miami! I am so proud of been part of such a wonderful, talented, my Designlab Miami peers! Thank you all for coming! For the ones that couldn't make it, here are some pics. Enjoy!

Quique Usales went to DesignLab Miami to showcase what we do.

My mission was to design a black dress with recycled materials. The first thing I thought was that if it is for Maria Celeste it has to be different!

The dress was inspired by the material in itself. One could think of garbage bags as just bags to through things out, but if you think of better it could be much more. If you see the layers it has, it can be a very interesting object for his own qualities and perfect for a dress. To make it, I cut around 500 circles from the bags because my idea was to make a fabric with this circles. I cut them in the middle and sewed them to generate a cool detail and effect.
